Freedom Fest 2013

We decided to take our girls to the Ft.Lewis Freedom Fest this year so we could celebrate the 4th of July and do something we haven't done before, go to the fair.  We got up and left around 10am that morning and planned to make a day of it. Ft. Lewis does a pretty big celebration, and a ton of vendors to go walk through so there was lots to do.
When we first got there Riley saw the dragon ride and really wanted to go on it, so we bought some tickets for her and Tinsley to go. At the very beginning both girls were very excited to get on.

After about 3 times around the novelty had started to wear off..

By this time both girls were ready to get off the dragon ride.  Tinsley was crying, which lead to Riley crying shortly there after.

They didnt much appreciate that they had to stay on for 8 or so laps, so when the ride was over both girls were bawling and gave us the dirtiest looks like we had tricked them.  We decided to forgo anymore rides for then and took a walk around.

A lady I know had a vendor booth up there and so we stopped by to say hello.  She has helped me quite a bit with my business, by embroidering things for me that I cant.  So made the family stop by and say hello.  We walked out of there with tutus for the girls.  They are reversible, so I thought that was pretty neat.  The girls were soooo excited!  Tinsley still wears hers when she finds it.

They had a section of blow up things for kids to play on.  The girls had a blast, and I think they would have stayed there all day if they could  have.

Riley was pretty excited to go down the pirate slide!

After awhile on the blow up toys we broke for lunch.  Casey and I had amazing philly cheese steaks! They were definitely worth mentioning haha.  We found a spot on the grass and sat down to eat.  The girls were so intent on getting back out there.  We took them over to the hammer activity and they both got these little fish.  Riley was very in awe with her purple fish.

We walked around a bit more and went back to the blow up stuff as well.  We ended up heading home early because we were tired, with every intent of coming back for fireworks later.  Our plans were foiled by pure exhaustion so we ended up making steak and potato salad for dinner and having a fire in our backyard pit.  The girls went to bed before fireworks again, so they still have yet to really see the fireworks.  Hopefully next year!
